MY Process

THE PROCESS

Having met numerous artists and artisans around the world I find it extremely pleasurable to learn how their art is created, between painters, sculptors, woodworkers, calligraphers, and jewelry artisans; from initial inspiration to finished design. It always amazes me how much effort goes into a piece of finished artwork.

I thought to share with you how each piece of my jewelry is created so I hope you enjoy the process.

I.

GLOBAL INSPIRATION

I have been fortunate to travel the world gathering inspiration from global museums, galleries, estates, and diverse cultures of people.

Symbolic cultural motifs resonate with me deeply and I love to feature one or two in every collection.

Between the Egyptian scarab, the Wheat sheaf, and colored gemstones you can be certain each piece has a deeper meaning than what it might seem.

II.

TRADITIONAL HAND SKETCHES

I hand sketch each design with pencil and pen and create technical sketches by which the piece can be realized and made by my global artisans to my precise requirements.

I chose this open winged Egyptian scarab motif because of its unique ancient style, different from the closed wing scarabs we see more often.

III.

TRADITION WITH TECHNOLOGY

I use technology by way of Computer Aided Design (CAD) software to mobilize my traditional hand sketches.

These technological sketches are 3D printed in wax models through which they can be cast and finished by strictly vetted artisans.
