It is then electroplated and thickly coated in 24 karat warm yellow gold in New York City by the same artisans who finish the Academy Award statues. The chain is a significant 16 inches long wheat style chain of 14karat yellow gold.
The work of this limited edition collection is made of a rare historical artifact: it is the original perimeter fence from the prison where freedom fighters including Nelson Mandela were imprisoned before he became president of South Africa. Robben Island prison is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and everything on it considered a piece of history.
